Formula One 2011
For F1 fanatics, the first race of the season took place yesterday in Australia. Here in America, we would have to be awake at 2:00 in the morning to catch it. But so far the reigning champion Sebastian Vettel for Red Bull Renault is off to a good start defending his title. He qualified on pole and got the win yesterday easily ahead of McLaren's Lewis Hamilton. I guess the question for the season is this: Does Vettel have what it takes to make it two titles in a row, or will somebody catch him?
Re: Formula One 2011
Last season wasnt good for me.
Pure dominance of Vettel and Red Bull (kinda boring!), Lewis not at his best (good thing that Jense has raised his game!).
And that horrible accident that almost killed Robert.
This was one of the weirdest and most unlucky accidents ive ever seen.
Guardrail that sopose to protect driver just pierced whole car (and driver).
Seriously how often do you see armco all the way through car:

After accident he was under surgery for like 12 hours and doctors menaged to keep him alive and reconstruct his hand.
Hes still recovering but he didnt gave up on F1 and the goal is to come back
But another season wil start without him which is pitty.
Good news is that US GP is back this year!
First tests will start next week and that means that majoryty of the team will show us their 2012 cars
They allready showed new Caterham and its so damn ugly haha

Re: Formula One 2011
I'll tell you what Mag.
Sebastien Vettel was truly dominant during the season. He did an awesome job last season and I applaud him for that incredible success. But you're right, it made the sport a bit of a bore last season. Any given race could have been accurately predicted from the running order after the first turn on lap one. To me that's not what racing is about.
Maybe instead of guardrails they could do what NASCAR does and implement a SAFER barrier? These barriers are Steel And Foam Energy Reduction walls that greatly reduce the amount of force to a driver in an impact. They are tons much safer than the solid steel guardrails or even solid concrete walls.
Continuing on that crash, I did not see it when it happened, but the pictures of the car, it just looks vicious, but I guess the driver survived, and that is truly miraculous. If anyone was keeping track of the IndyCar season, you know that last year's Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon was not so lucky, he died in a crash at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in October.
But 2012 should be an awesome year in motorsports. I am looking forward to another great year in NASCAR, and for a great season in F1. Hey! Formula One is returning to America with the first running of the United States Grand Prix since 2007, it will take place at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. I hope everyone stays safe. 24 Hours of Daytona tomorrow.

Yes he survived but his arm was semi amputated in 2 places, few brakes in leg and every single bone in his hand/fider was broken in at least 2 places (basicly it was crushed). He lost nearly all his blood and yea...its quite miraculous that he did survived.[McN]The_QuakR wrote:

I wish he never done rallys and focus on F1. His accident in 2007 showed how much safer it is.
His feet were outside lol.
Yea ive seen Wheldons fatal accident...such a loss
Same goes for MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli who died at Malasyan GP.
Hope this season will be much better (and meybe Robert will recover and come back somewhern mid-season)
